THE COLOUR BLUE - Upcycling

Lets talk about blue...

For me, Blue has always been a favourite, anything
from the deep blues like indigo to the soft gentle blues
like Pavilion blue at Farrow & Ball,
There is such a wide spectrum of tones to choose from,
You only have to observe nature itself to appreciate the
depths of colour! The ever-changing shades of the sky from
midnight blue to the brightest blue of a summer sky! down to the glorious morning sky!
Also, We can surely  appreciate the tones and depths of
the ocean, Especially so the beautiful Mediterranean
sea the sheer beauty of azure like the sky sparkles
like jewels - the colour of sapphires.
I feel blue is a tranquil relaxing colour, Blue
is like being wrapped in the arms of nature,
Like green-blue is all around us without realizing
we enjoy these colours every day.
Colour always inspire me when I'm making
choices on my next project- so much choice!
why not consider incorporating colour into our home
furniture and furnishings,
Let's remember too that blue reduces stress and can create
a sense of calm so overall a good positive colour
to have at home.

Not forgetting the psychology behind azure blue.
Azure blue is regarded as the colour of true contentment it inspires determination and ambition! Azure blue has a sense of purpose in striving for goals, so a great colour for
clarity, good to have at home or the work place!

' When I choose a colour it is not because of any scientific theory.
It comes from observation, from feeling, from the innermost nature of the experience in question .'

The beautiful contrasting colours of
nature, inspires and uplifts the soul.

Try applying some positive colours to
your home - Colour can enhance any room creating a feel  good factor by bringing the beauty outside inside.

Interiors

I thought I would share with you my beautiful find!
I fell in love with this cushion instantly, gosh how
I love it! luxury filled! beautiful flowers and all pink!
I cant help myself but I love pink, it is and I'm not
ashamed to say one of my favourite colours.
Psychologically it has to mean my compassionate and kind
nature shinning through! Haha
But actually in psychology 'Pink'
is a sign of hope, inspiration, warmth and empathy. It calms, reassures and can have a calming effect on the nerves
signifying good health and well being.
so a little pink here and there can only be good.

But there are so  many stunning textiles and colours out there
just fires me up. I feel excited and inspired!
Colour bring it on.

We spent an afternoon rummaging  through the 'Packhorse'
Farnham, A huge barn stuffed full of beautiful things not to
mention the delicious food!

Upcycled Commission

Last weeks commission piece - A Dining table & Chairs.
In the words of my client
"Its a bit orange"

As I find with most people renewing a outdated or old fashioned
piece of furniture doesn't always come to mind that often!
But seriously before you opt to discard your old tired piece
especially so if its in good condition and serves you well.
Think about how you could update it either yourself or myself!
I find choosing your own colour palette is so exciting!
colour can change the whole look of a room and depending
on which colours you choose can add a real feel good
factor to your home.
Using my client as an example who bravely decided to
upcycle/renew her family dining set.
My client needed some advice on which paints would be best
to use, I suggested we go with the superb Farrow & Ball eggshell
paints, as these are fine eco friendly hard wearing
paints - please let us appreciate the stunning colour
palettes they have in the collection!

No 275

My client decided on 'Purbeck stone' a soft mid grey, a
good neutral choice as this colour would coordinate
with any colour scheme, a superb choice
for your casual family dining area.
This I'm happy to say is where I come in! I can
discuss with you your colour preference and the style
your hoping to achieve.

The dining set is now back home with its happy owner,
we think the finished piece looks pretty amazing!
Jo was looking to compliment the set with one of her
many colourful lampshades - see below.

Jo also makes beautiful lampshades in varying designs.

Upcycled Commission Piece

Last week I was happily working on a commission piece and
In the words of my client 'An orange pine dining
farmhouse table and chairs' in need of an
update!
Stay tuned folks I will be posting after pictures
soon.

Upcycled Farmhouse Table and Chairs.

I'm hoping you all enjoy colour as much as I do!
As I find it, each colour that we are drawn to for our home says something personal about us as individuals and
how we feel, I do believe colour should always create harmony
in our lives and in our homes when making decisions on
your own colour preferences I would say always go with how
they make you feel, One doesn't have to go along with the
latest trends but having said that its great to be inspired by the wonderful designs around! Remembering its all about you expressing yourself as an individual.

In colour psychology turquoise helps to open
lines of communication, so its a great choice for
your dining table! Plenty of conversations!
Turquoise particularly opens lines of communication
between the heart and the spoken word, it is a friendly
and happy colour enjoying life - and shouldn't
mealtimes be the perfect time to enjoy our friends
and families. Turquoise can help to radiate emotional
balance and a sense of calm, it is a great colour to
have around you.

So go ahead and invite some colour into your home.
With my latest Upcycle I decided to use the
ever popular Autentico chalk paint in 'Antique turquoise'
and to achieve that used shabby but 'chic' farmhouse style
I have distressed it and then varnished the table top.
Inspired always by nature - my choice of textiles
for the chairs was easy,I found this gorgeous French
fabric with refreshing botanics and floral's which
I feel compliment the turquoise table beautifully.
A charming dining set fit for either your kitchen,
dining area or conservatory.
